What is sihr-induced apathy and how is it different from depression?

A person may experience a state where they lose all initiative. They postpone everything, sleep excessively, begin tasks and abandon them, and lose interest in things that once mattered to them.

This description overlaps almost completely with clinical depression, and that overlap must be taken seriously.

Depression is a real, common and treatable medical condition affecting millions of people. Treating it as a spiritual affliction and pursuing only recitation, while leaving it medically unaddressed, can allow a serious illness to deepen for years.

The responsible approach

  • See a doctor. Get a proper assessment. Do this first, not last.

  • Continue any treatment you are prescribed.

  • Perform ruqya alongside it. The two do not conflict.

  • Do not let anyone tell you that seeking mental health care shows weak faith. It does not.

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, please contact a doctor or a crisis line today. That is urgent and needs immediate real-world support, not a longer recitation.
