What are the signs of jinn presence in a person?
Practitioners describe a cluster of reported signs:
- Strong aversion to Quranic recitation, or agitation when it begins
- Speaking in a voice or manner unlike the person's own
- Episodes the person does not remember afterwards
- Sudden personality changes with no cause
- Recurring dreams of animals, or of being pursued
- Heaviness or pressure, particularly at night
- Aversion to prayer or the masjid in someone who previously prayed
- Unexplained hostility toward a specific person, often a spouse
This list requires the strongest possible caution.
Every item on it also describes symptoms of well-understood medical conditions. Dissociative episodes, temporal lobe epilepsy, psychosis and severe trauma responses all produce memory gaps, personality change, altered speech and behaviour the person cannot account for.
These conditions are diagnosable and treatable, and they get worse when left alone. Anyone showing these signs needs a medical assessment before anything else, not instead of ruqya but before concluding anything.
