Should I stop medical treatment if I think I have sihr?

No. Never stop prescribed treatment. This is one of the most damaging misunderstandings in the field, and it has cost lives.

Islam does not place medicine and ruqya in competition. The Prophet, peace be upon him, told his companions that Allah sent down no disease without also sending down its cure, and he instructed them to seek treatment. He used honey, black seed and cupping. Medicine is a means, exactly as ruqya is a means, and both operate only by the permission of Allah.

If you are receiving care for cancer, diabetes, epilepsy, a heart condition, or any mental health condition, continue it. Do ruqya as well. They do not interfere with each other.

Any practitioner who tells you to abandon your doctor has disqualified himself. Leave, and do not return.

If you are struggling with thoughts of harming yourself, please speak to a doctor or a crisis line today. That is urgent, and it deserves immediate real-world support.
