How do I prevent relapse after treatment?
Relapse is commonly reported, and the pattern is usually recognisable: intensive practice during treatment, then everything stops the moment the person feels better.
Maintenance to keep permanently
- Morning and evening adhkar, every day, without exception. This is the core
- Ayat al-Kursi after each obligatory prayer and before sleeping
- The three protective surahs, three times morning and evening
- Prayer on time. The foundation of all of it
- Surah Al-Baqarah in the home, recited or played, regularly
- Bismillah at the ordinary moments: entering, eating, pouring hot water
This takes a few minutes daily. It is protection rather than treatment, and it continues whether or not anything is wrong.
Also address whatever made you vulnerable. If the underlying issue was exhaustion, an untreated condition, a difficult marriage or persistent sin, that remains after any treatment ends. Recitation does not resolve a situation that is still in place.
And keep proportion. Someone who spends years monitoring themselves for signs of return has not recovered, whatever their symptoms say.
